Greetings Fellow Egg 🥚,
Welcome to the inaugural issue of “**Half Dozen”** – a fortnightly foray into the world of arts & technology startups and founders. Every two weeks we’ll deliver a curated mix of invitations and recaps, market news, founder updates, and behind-the-scenes peeks at what we’re building at Restless Egg.

On January 31st, Restless Egg and TxP co-hosted Art Made AI at Newspeak House, uniting artists, technologists, policy makers and investors to explore how artistic methods are shaping AI development. Will Freudenheim kicked off the evening by demonstrating how existing AI tools can be repurposed for new artistic capabilities, teasing Acid City—a short film by his animation studio Laser Days, that uses a generative AI tool they’re building during their Restless Egg incubation. Panelists Sarah Drinkwater (Common Magic), Mat Dryhurst, and Flora Weil (Nephila, a Restless Egg portfolio company) then joined a conversation, moderated by Restless Egg founder Sylvan. The event wrapped up with a vibrant mix of DJ sets, books (Isolarii & Interplay), dancing, visual art, and stimulating conversation.
Curious to learn more? Check out photos and more information about the artists, a secret demo of Flora’s work (pwd: restlessegg), and an interview with Sylvan.
Mark your calendars: Fuser, a Restless Egg portfolio company, is emerging from stealth with an exciting Alpha Launch + Workshop this Saturday in Los Angeles. Join founders Dalena Tran and Hirad Sab for a hands-on workshop that invites you to explore Fuser’s unified platform for co-creating with a variety of AI models across text, image, code, video, and sound. At the event, you'll learn how to deploy Fuser to unlock AI’s potential beyond the limitations of single model interaction.
If you can’t attend in person, sign up here for early access or get involved by checking out Fuser on GitHub (@fuserstudio) and joining their Discord.
Restless Egg recently returned from Geneva after attending the CERN Art and Science Summit, and now we're off to Berlin for the opening of Laure Prouvost’s new commission, WE FELT A STAR DYING. Born from conversations with philosopher Tobias Rees and scientist Hartmut Neven, the project enabled Prouvost to access a quantum computer and experiment with an AI model built from quantum computation data. The resulting video and sound components, showcased at Kraftwerk Berlin, offer a dynamic reflection on technological development—an especially timely exploration as the UN names 2025 the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology to celebrate the centenary of the discovery of quantum mechanics.
If you’re in Berlin, get in touch or come say hi!
This past Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping hosted a rare closed-door symposium, urging entrepreneurs to “show their talents” and heralding a new era for private sector innovation in China. With heavyweight figures like Jack Ma (Alibaba), Ren Zhengfei (Huawei), and Lei Jun (Xiaomi) in attendance, Xi’s message was a clear push to bolster business confidence and drive scientific and technological breakthroughs. At a time of looming U.S. tariffs and rising tech rivalries (DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng was also among the business leaders present), Xi’s call resonates beyond China, striking a chord in today’s global startup ecosystem amid an intensifying AI arms race.
